Current Activities
Business Analyst for TCO
The University of Utah has one of the best entrepreneurial programs in the United States. As of 2010 the University of Utah is actually tied with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for number of successful startups created. The Technology Commercialization Office takes research from the University of Utah and patents possibly valuable technology for potential licensing to other companies or creating new tech start ups for Utah. I currently am serving as a business Analyst for the TCO providing assistance to tech start ups in Stage II assisting with business development and business planning.
Chair in GBSA
The GBSA, or Graduate Business Student Association, is a student run organization dedicated to graduate business student’s interests at the David Eccles School of Business. I am one of six students that were elected to form the current officers. The GBSA serves numerous roles such as transferring relevant information from the school to the students and taking students concerns to the decision makers within the David Eccles School of Business. In addition the GBSA, with sponsorship of the deans, hosts numerous events for the students of the graduate business programs and their families. These events serve to bring the student community together and provide networking opportunities.
Recycle Utah Board of Directors
The David Eccles School of Business has several amazing programs available to willing students. One such program is Board Fellows which allows students to gain board room experience by sitting on the Board of a non-profit. I have had the honor of sitting on the Recycle Utah Board of Directors for a year now and it has been a great experience. I am constantly learning more about how boards properly operate and have been able to take the lead on numerous programs including business development and operations programs. I look forward to continuing to serve the board as needed.
MBA Field Study
In order to complete a Masters of Business Administration students traditionally must complete a semester long group consulting project for an outside company. I have been chosen to represent the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business in a field Study with Rocky Mountain Power performing analysis and marketing. Rocky Mountain Power is a subsidiary of PacifiCorp that provides a large portion of power for the Western Interconnection power grid.
